"Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We are all excited to be in full force this Saturday, as the half marathon training group officially begins their training. This training season is a new beginning for all of us. We join as a group and experience something more than running or walking. A family of friends sharing the same passion, the same will to take on this challenge, with our own unique reasons why. The "magic in the air" we experience as we begin this marathon training, is a feeling difficult to describe, however a very welcomed one. It is perhaps, knowing your future is filled with exciting possibilities...wonderful moments you have only dreamt of until now. This weekend, we...

RISE TOGETHER

Those of you who have been training with the full marathon group can skip to the bottom of this post for the start time and route this Saturday.

If you are new to the group and still have any doubts, please remember, we are a team and grow together. Do not worry how fast or slow you are. You will never be judged on speed...or be judged, period. Your running technique will improve as the season progresses. Our team leaders are there to ensure you feel welcome your very first day, and will support you throughout the entire season.

This Saturday the half marathon training group will complete a 40 minute run/walk (20 minutes out, and 20 minutes back). We recommend you bring a watch or phone to keep time. The purpose of this first run/walk is to familiarize yourself with the group, the area we train in, and our format. Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled start time. We will have important reminders to go over before you start your run or walk.

TRAINING LOCATION

We meet Saturday mornings in Coconut Grove at the Miami Parking Authority Lot 62. The lot is located on Pan American Drive, as you approach City of Miami Hall and next to Regatta Park.

PARKING

If you can carpool to the run, do so. We will grow to approximately 200 runners training for the marathon and half marathon. When Lot 62 is full, you can park on the side of the road along the entrance to Pan American Drive on both the road going in and the road going out.

KEYS

We keep key bins on the table for you to leave your keys while you run. Some of you have been consistently running and are covering more miles. If you plan to go longer, please notify us so that we know not to wait for you. Also, please stow away your keys elsewhere if you will go longer. Otherwise, we will think that a runner got left behind or something may have happened.

The 13.1 Group will follow the same route for 20 minutes, then turnaround and head back.
